Pakistan’s audacious drone attack on India was met with a swift and decisive response from the Indian armed forces on Thursday night. According to defence sources, Pakistan launched 500 small drones in a little over 200 minutes, with the intention of targeting 24 Indian cities across four states – Jammu and Kashmir, Punjab, Rajasthan, and Gujarat.
The Indian air defence system, bolstered by Russian-made S-400 and domestically produced Akash missiles, successfully intercepted and destroyed the majority of the drones before they could cause any harm. Only one drone managed to hit Jammu Civil Airport, while the rest were taken out by the Indian military.
Most of the drones used by Pakistan were unarmed and equipped with cameras, potentially relaying footage back to their ground stations. The Indian armed forces were able to neutralize the threat posed by these drones and prevent any significant damage to infrastructure.
In a retaliatory move, the Indian military launched drone strikes into Pakistan, targeting key locations such as Islamabad, Lahore, and Sialkot. This escalation comes after Pakistan’s failed attempts to engage Indian military targets in northern and western India on the night of May 7-8.
The Ministry of Defence confirmed that the Indian response to Pakistan’s aggression was carried out with the same intensity and in the same domain. Air defence radars and systems in Pakistan were targeted in response to the drone attacks on Indian soil.
The situation remains tense between the two nuclear-armed neighbors, with both sides demonstrating their capabilities and willingness to defend their territories. The Indian armed forces have proven their readiness to counter any threats posed by hostile neighbors, ensuring the safety and security of the nation.
