Senior Money & Markets: Navigating Investments with Wisdom
With Nifty crossing the 24,000 mark and Sensex hovering near 80,000, India’s stock market is on a historic high. But with great heights come great risks—especially for our seniors.
Common Risks for Elders:
- Misleading WhatsApp stock tips
- Investing in unknown IPOs without due diligence
- Falling for Ponzi schemes disguised as mutual funds
Retired railway officer Kailash Thakur, 71, shared: “I lost ₹1.2 lakh in a flashy IPO just because a YouTube ad called it the next Reliance.”
Tripura24 Tips for Safe Investing:
- Stick to blue-chip stocks like HDFC, TCS, Infosys
- Diversify into govt-backed bonds (SCSS, RBI Floating Bonds)
- Use SEBI-registered advisors only
- Never invest more than 30% of your disposable income in equities
LIC & SBI both offer senior-specific portfolios with steady returns and minimal risk.
🌱 Remember: At 60+, investment isn’t about thrills. It’s about security, stability, and sanity.

This is part of the Sakhi Shakti Nidhi, designed to protect elderly women’s economic dignity amid rising costs.
CM’s Message: “A widow must never walk alone—we walk beside her in life’s final innings.”
