Fulfilling a long-standing demand of the local residents, Rajya Sabha MP and BJP State President Shri Rajib Bhattacharjee today formally inaugurated the newly constructed Community Hall at the premises of Dhaleswar Vedbani Sangha. The project, funded through the MP Local Area Development (MPLAD) scheme, is expected to serve as a vital hub for social, cultural, and community gatherings in the Dhaleswar area.
The inauguration was attended by local councilors, members of the Vedbani Sangha, and several prominent social workers of the locality.
Fulfilling a Local Promise
For several years, the residents of Dhaleswar Road No. 3 and its surrounding areas had been appealing for a dedicated community space.
- The Project: Recognizing the need, MP Rajib Bhattacharjee had allocated approximately ₹15 Lakh from his development fund for the construction of this hall.
- Modern Amenities: The new facility is equipped with basic amenities to host weddings, meetings, and local festivals, reducing the financial burden on residents who previously had to rent expensive private venues.
“Committed to Grassroots Development” — Rajib Bhattacharjee
During his address at the ceremony, Shri Rajib Bhattacharjee emphasized that the goal of the central and state governments is to ensure that development reaches every corner of the city.
”The people of Dhaleswar had approached me with this request quite some time ago. It gives me immense satisfaction to see this community hall completed and handed over to the public today. Our focus remains on creating permanent assets that benefit the common man. This hall belongs to the community, and I urge everyone to maintain it as their own,” the MP stated.
Focus on Dhaleswar’s Infrastructure
The MP also highlighted other ongoing and completed projects in the Dhaleswar-College Tilla belt, including:
- Educational Support: A boundary wall and gate construction for the MGM Class XII School.
- Cultural Spaces: Similar community projects at the Volcan Club and a single-storey library building at the Ramkrishna Mission on A.K. Road.
- Connectivity: Ongoing improvements to the drainage and road networks under the Agartala Smart City Mission.
Community Gratitude
The members of Dhaleswar Vedbani Sangha expressed their heartfelt gratitude to the MP for his prompt action and allocation of funds. The event concluded with a small cultural program organized by the local youth and a community lunch.
The inauguration marks another step in the urban development drive currently being spearheaded by the state’s leadership to transform Agartala into a more liveable and community-centric city.
