The Election Commission of India (ECI) is launching a Special Intensive Revision (SIR) of the voter list starting this August.
This is your chance to ensure your name is included — and stay protected from being removed.
What Happens During This Revision?
- A Booth Level Officer (BLO) will visit your home to help you fill out a form.
- You will need to provide one valid document from the approved list (see below).
Different Rules for Different Age Groups:
1️⃣ Born before July 1987:
- Only your own document is required.
2️⃣ Born between 1987 and 2002:
- You must provide your father’s or mother’s document.
- (If your name appeared in the final 2002 SIR list, you can simply submit that page instead.)
Born after 2002:
- You must provide both father’s and mother’s documents.
- (If your name appeared in the final 2002 SIR list, that page alone is enough.)
Why Is This Revision Happening?
- To remove fake voters from the list.
- If you’re a genuine voter, there’s nothing to worry about — just complete the form fill-up process.
Good News:
- You can also complete the form online — perfect if you’re away from your home location.
- But remember: Form fill-up is mandatory. If you don’t, your name could be removed from the voter list.
Accepted Documents (Any One of These):
- Aadhaar Card
- PAN Card
- Passport
- Driving Licence
- Birth Certificate
- 10th / 12th Admit Card
- Electricity Bill
- Water Bill
- Ration Card
- Bank Passbook
- Parents’ Voter ID
- Copy of the 2002 SIR List (if available)
