Kailash Manasarovar Yatra, a sacred pilgrimage for Hindus, Buddhists, and Jains, is set to resume this year after a five-year hiatus. The Ministry of External Affairs (MEA) announced on Saturday that the yatra will take place from June to August 2025.
The yatra will pass through the challenging Lipulekh Pass, located at an altitude of 17,000 feet in Uttarakhand’s Pithoragarh district. This route was closed for the past five years due to various factors, including the COVID-19 pandemic and border tensions with China.
The MEA stated that this year, there will be five batches, each consisting of 50 Yatris, crossing over at the Lipulekh Pass, as well as 10 batches, each consisting of 50 Yatris, crossing over at the Nathu La Pass in Sikkim. The ministry emphasized that the selection process for Yatris will be fair, computer-generated, random, and gender-balanced.
Applicants are encouraged to visit the website at kmy.gov.in to submit their applications. The entire process, from application to selection, is fully computerized, eliminating the need for applicants to send letters or faxes. The website also provides a feedback option for applicants to register observations or make suggestions for improvement.
The Kailash Manasarovar Yatra is a significant spiritual journey for many, and its resumption after a long hiatus is sure to bring joy to devotees and pilgrims alike.
