News Report:
A joint procession was organised today by the Kisan Congress and Labour Congress from the Agartala Congress Bhavan to the office of the District Magistrate, where a deputation was submitted in strong protest against the recently proposed Labour Law by the Central Government.
Leaders of both organisations stated that the proposed law undermines workers’ rights, weakens job security, and shifts the balance of power heavily in favour of employers. They argued that the new framework could lead to exploitation of labourers, dilution of workplace protections, and increased economic vulnerability for millions of workers.
Participants in the rally raised slogans calling for the withdrawal of the proposed law and demanded that the government engage in wider consultation with farmers’ and workers’ bodies. The deputation submitted to the District Magistrate outlined key objections and urged the administration to convey their concerns to the Central authorities.
District officials acknowledged receipt of the memorandum and assured that the matter would be forwarded through the proper channels.
