News Report:
At a press conference held on Thursday at the BJP state headquarters, Kushabhau Bhavan, Labour Minister Tinku Roy, along with BJP State General Secretary and MLA Bhagaban Das and State Media In-Charge Sunit Sarkar, outlined the benefits and reforms introduced under the new Labour Codes. The minister described the Labour Codes as a “historic and transformative decision” aimed at building a Viksit Bharat (Developed India) by ensuring worker welfare, transparency and simplified regulations.
Tinku Roy said the previous labour laws dated back to the British era and had become fragmented and outdated. The new Labour Codes, he added, have been modernised in keeping with contemporary needs and designed to ensure equal pay for equal work, particularly guaranteeing parity between men and women for the same category of employment.
He emphasised that the codes have brought about major improvements in worker protection, wage security, and compliance processes. The minister also said the reforms replace the old Inspector Raj with a more supportive, facilitative mechanism to assist workers and employers alike.
Tinku Roy criticised Left-backed organisations, stating that they were “spreading misinformation” about the Labour Codes despite the reforms ensuring greater benefits, more clarity, and simplified procedures for labourers. He cited examples of enhanced safeguards related to wages and working conditions under the new framework.
The minister stated that the Labour Codes stand as a strong pillar for worker welfare and represent a forward-looking step toward achieving the vision of a developed India.
