News Report:
Five Left parties—CPI(M), CPI, RSP, AIFB, and CPI(ML)—organised a rally in Agartala followed by a public meeting on Shakuntala Road, demanding the withdrawal of the labour law they described as anti-worker, referred to as the ‘BV-G RAM-JI’ law, and opposing the scrapping of MGNREGA.
The rally highlighted concerns that the new law undermines the interests of the working class and is against public welfare. Addressing the gathering, Leader of the Opposition Jiten Choudhury criticised the central government’s labour policies, alleging that they weaken employment security and social protection for workers.
Former minister Manik Dey, along with other Left leaders, also addressed the meeting, calling for united resistance against what they termed anti-people legislation.
The programme concluded peacefully, with organisers reiterating their demand for the immediate repeal of the new law and restoration of workers’ rights.
