Lefunga Police carried out a major anti-cannabis operation, destroying nearly 9,000 mature cannabis plants from two separate locations under the jurisdiction of Lefunga Police Station.The operation was led by Officer-in-Charge (OC) Sahadev Das, following specific intelligence inputs. The first raid was conducted late Sunday night in the Abhicharan area, followed by another operation on Monday afternoon in the Dighalia area. In both locations, the illegal cannabis plantations were found on government (khas) land and were completely uprooted and destroyed.A large contingent of Lefunga Police personnel, along with Tripura State Rifles (TSR) and central armed forces, participated in the coordinated operation to ensure security and smooth execution of the drive.Speaking to the media, OC Sahadev Das confirmed the destruction of around 9,000 mature cannabis plants and stated that investigations are underway to identify and apprehend those involved in illegal cultivation. He also assured that such anti-drug operations will continue in the coming days as part of the police department’s ongoing campaign against narcotics.
