In a significant success for the state’s ongoing “Nasha Mukt Tripura” campaign, the East Agartala Police successfully apprehended a long-time absconding criminal, Raja Saha, in a midnight raid. Acting on a specific tip-off, the police team nabbed the accused from the Shani Mandir area, located adjacent to the East Agartala Police Station.
According to police sources, Raja Saha had been evading the law for a considerable period in connection with a case registered under the Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances (NDPS) Act.

The operation was carried out late last night after the police received intelligence regarding his movement in the city.

Police Statement
Speaking to the media, the Officer-in-Charge (OC) of East Agartala Police Station, Shri Subrata Debnath, confirmed the arrest and provided updates on the legal proceedings.
”Raja Saha is a veteran in the illegal drug trade and had been absconding for a long time. Our team acted swiftly on secret information last night and managed to arrest him. He will be produced before the court today with a prayer for police remand to further investigate his links with the wider drug network in the state,” OC Subrata Debnath stated.

This arrest is seen as a major blow to the local narcotics supply chain in the Town Pratapgarh and East Agartala regions. The Tripura Police have intensified their vigilance in recent weeks, targeting “big fish” and long-term absconders involved in the trafficking of Yaba tablets, brown sugar, and cannabis.
