West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee has launched a scathing attack on Prime Minister Narendra Modi, accusing him of disrespecting women with his recent #OperationSindoor campaign. Banerjee criticized Modi during a public event, where she also challenged the BJP to face elections immediately.
Banerjee’s comments come in response to remarks made by a BJP minister about launching “Operation Bengal,” similar to the controversial Operation Sindoor campaign. The West Bengal Chief Minister called out the BJP for spreading lies and politicizing cultural campaigns for electoral gains.
During her speech, Banerjee condemned Modi for giving sindoor to women, stating, “Don’t insult women, Narendra Modi, by giving them sindoor. Women accept sindoor only from their husbands. Why should they take it from you? Why have you not given sindoor to your own Mrs first?” She described Modi’s campaign as “foul and hollow gimmicks” and launched a “typhoon-force attack” against it.
Banerjee also expressed shock and sadness over Modi’s comments on the recent Murshidabad violence, accusing him of using falsehoods to divide the country. She challenged the BJP to face elections immediately, asserting that her party, the Trinamool Congress (TMC), is fully prepared for the contest.
The West Bengal Chief Minister branded the BJP as the “Jumla Party,” a term commonly used to describe the party for making false promises. Banerjee’s strong words against Modi and the BJP highlight the escalating political tensions in West Bengal ahead of the upcoming elections.
