A state and district-level launch of the SAANS-2025 (Social Awareness and Action to Neutralise Pneumonia Successfully) programme was held on Saturday at the Bhati Abhaynagar Urban Primary Health Centre in Agartala. The initiative was formally inaugurated by Agartala Mayor Deepak Majumder, who highlighted the importance of strengthening community awareness and healthcare measures to combat childhood pneumonia.
Officials from the Health Department, medical staff, and local residents attended the programme, which aims to reduce pneumonia-related mortality through timely diagnosis, improved treatment access, and widespread public education. Mayor Majumder emphasized that the SAANS campaign will play a crucial role in promoting preventive care and ensuring that essential health services reach vulnerable children across the state.
The event concluded with demonstrations on early symptom recognition and proper care practices for families and community workers.
