Bihar – In the town of Tajpur in Samastipur, one middle-class family, the Suryavanshi family, gave birth to a son named Vaibhav. His father Sanjeev is a farmer and the family runs a shop to cover their expenses. In a household where education and work take a backseat to the leisure of playing cricket, Vaibhav’s father had a dream to fulfill his son’s aspirations. So, he sold his own land to fund his son’s cricket training.
Today, in just 14 years and 32 days, when that son became the youngest centurion in the history of the Indian Premier League (IPL), what tears welled up in his father’s eyes? Who knows! It’s as if the depths of wonder are endless. Is what I saw with my eyes the truth or a magical illusion?
At the age of just 4, Vaibhav held a cricket bat in his hand with his father. And the rest is history. When he turned 7, his father took him to the Patna Cricket Academy.
The distance from home to the cricket academy is 100 kilometers. The journey was not easy, but why stop when you can keep going? Every morning at 4 am, Vaibhav would leave home, and by 7 am, he would reach the academy. His mother would prepare his food, and then coach Monish Ojha would meticulously train young Vaibhav.
In an IPL auction, Vaibhav was sold for 1 crore 10 lakhs. Today, it seems like he has given a little return. He scored 101 runs in just 38 balls, hitting 7 fours and 11 sixes.
He broke the record of Mohnish Pandey. Mohnish Pandey had set the record for being the youngest centurion in the IPL in just 253 days at the age of 19 in 2009.
And what about Vaibhav Suryavanshi? He was born on March 27, 2011, after the birth of the IPL in 2008. The boy who was born after the birth of the IPL has now created history by becoming the youngest IPL centurion in just 14 years and 32 days, breaking Mohnish Pandey’s record.
Scoring a century in just 35 balls, Vaibhav set the record for the fastest century in IPL history. It took him just 35 balls to score a century in the IPL. And this extraordinary young boy has now secured the second position in IPL history for the fastest century. Can you believe it? Are you surprised? There is nothing to be surprised about!
Even though this young talent has broken records in this IPL, you won’t be surprised. In the first match of the IPL, the child who couldn’t even find fifty has come with so much wonder, like a gift to cricket.
Remember the name of this new star – Vaibhav Suryavanshi!
