The 17th meeting of the State Road Safety Council was held today at the Secretariat, Agartala, under the chairmanship of Sushanta Chowdhury.
The meeting was attended by the Secretary of the Finance Department, the Inspector General of Police (Law & Order), the Special Secretary of the Food Department, the Director of Higher Education, the Director of the Food Department, the Superintendent of Traffic Police, and District Magistrates of all eight districts of Tripura, who joined virtually. Several other senior officials were also present.
Discussions focused on strengthening road safety measures, inter-departmental coordination, traffic management, and implementation of preventive strategies to reduce road accidents across the state. Emphasis was laid on enforcement, public awareness, and infrastructure-related interventions to enhance road safety outcomes.
The minister directed concerned departments to ensure timely implementation of decisions taken at the meeting and stressed the need for continuous monitoring to improve road safety across Tripura.
