Agartala, Tripura: Smt. Santana Chakma, Hon’ble Minister for Industries and Commerce, inaugurated the “Run for Tea” event on December 17, 2025, at 6:30 AM at the premises of Tea Corner, Bir Chandra State Central Library, Agartala. The event was organised to promote fitness and highlight the importance of Tripura’s tea heritage.
The inauguration ceremony was attended by Shri Tinku Roy, Hon’ble Minister for Youth Affairs and Sports, and Shri Dipak Majumder, Hon’ble Mayor of the Agartala Municipal Corporation, along with officials, sports enthusiasts, and participants from different sections of society.
Addressing the gathering, the dignitaries emphasized the dual objective of the programme—encouraging a healthy lifestyle through running while promoting Tripura tea as a symbol of the state’s cultural and economic identity. They appreciated the initiative for combining sports, youth engagement, and local industry promotion on a single platform.
The early morning run witnessed enthusiastic participation, reflecting growing public interest in fitness-oriented community events. Organisers stated that such initiatives not only promote wellness but also help create awareness about Tripura’s rich tea tradition among the younger generation.
