Agartala: With the Tripura Tribal Areas Autonomous District Council (TTAADC) elections fast approaching, the ruling Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) has officially shifted into high gear. Aiming to dismantle the opposition’s stronghold and form the government in the tribal council, a crucial organizational meeting was held today, Saturday, at the State BJP Headquarters in Agartala.
The meeting focused on micro-level planning, booth-strengthening in hilly terrains, and highlighting the “double-engine” government’s developmental projects for the indigenous communities.
Top Leadership Brainstorms for Victory
The strategic session was marked by the presence of the party’s top brass in the state, signaling the high stakes involved in the upcoming ADC polls. Key attendees included:
- Prof. (Dr.) Manik Saha, Hon’ble Chief Minister of Tripura.
- Shri Rajib Bhattacharjee, State BJP President.
- Shri Parimal Debbarma, President of Janajati Morcha.
- Shri Bikash Debbarma, Minister for Janajati Welfare.
- Shri Bipin Debbarma, State BJP General Secretary.
Addressing the leadership, Chief Minister Dr. Manik Saha emphasized that the BJP’s vision for Ek Tripura, Srestha Tripura is incomplete without the total development of the ADC areas. He urged the Janajati Morcha (the party’s tribal wing) to be the frontline warriors in this electoral battle.
”The upcoming ADC election is a turning point for the state’s progress. We discussed how to take the message of PM Modi’s HIRA model to every tribal hamlet. Our Janajati Morcha leaders will play the most vital role in ensuring that people realize only the BJP can provide a permanent solution to their socio-economic needs,” the Chief Minister told reporters after the meeting.
Strategy: Booth-Level Mobilization
State President Rajib Bhattacharjee laid out a clear roadmap for the coming weeks:
- Prista Pramukh Activation: Ensuring every page-in-charge is active in the tribal hills.
- Countering Opposition: Refuting “misleading narratives” regarding tribal identity and land rights.
- Janajati Welfare Success: Highlighting the increase in the state’s tribal welfare budget and the recent recognition of indigenous icons.
Shri Parimal Debbarma noted that the Janajati Morcha has already started ground-level campaigns. “We are not just contesting; we are contesting to win and govern the ADC for the betterment of our brothers and sisters,” he added.
The Political Landscape
The ADC, which covers nearly two-thirds of Tripura’s geographical area, is currently seen as a prestige battle between the BJP-Tipra Motha-IPFT alliance and the opposition Left-Congress combine. Today’s meeting underscores the BJP’s intent to dominate the organizational space before the formal poll schedule is announced.
