Prime Minister Narendra Modi inaugurated the ‘Rising North East Investors Summit’ on Friday, May 23, 2025, highlighting the unprecedented progress the Northeastern region has been witnessing. He emphasized the government’s commitment to accelerating the growth story of the region, noting that diversity is its biggest strength.
Addressing the summit, PM Modi praised the Northeast for emerging as a frontrunner of growth and emphasized the importance of empowering, acting, strengthening, and transforming the region. He highlighted the significant shift from the Northeast being known as a frontier to now being a hub of growth.
The event, attended by chief ministers, union ministers, industry leaders like Mukesh Ambani, Gautam Adani, and Anil Agarwal, aims to showcase the Northeast as a land of opportunity and attract global and domestic investment. PM Modi stressed the government’s zero-tolerance policy towards terrorism and Naxalism, emphasizing the need to create a conducive environment for investment.
The summit includes various sessions focusing on sectors such as tourism, agro-food processing, textiles, healthcare, education, information technology, infrastructure, energy, and entertainment. It also features exhibitions of initiatives taken by state governments and central ministries to promote investment in the Northeast.
The event is the culmination of pre-summit activities including roadshows, roundtables, and meetings organized by the central government with support from the state governments. It aims to bring together key stakeholders, investors, and policymakers to explore the potential of the Northeast and drive economic growth in the region.
