Residents of South Joynagar and the surrounding areas have been facing a long-standing issue of navigating the turbulent waters of the Hawra River on a makeshift wooden bridge. This has been a problem for the past few years as the river remained in a turbulent state for half of the year, making it difficult for commuters to cross.
The residents had been demanding the reconstruction of the bridge for a long time to facilitate easier movement for the two neighboring communities. In response to their demands, efforts were made by the Mayor and the MLA of the Ramnagar Legislative Assembly to construct a Bailey bridge in place of the old wooden one.
With a cost of 1.76 crore taka, the Bailey bridge was successfully constructed, providing convenience to the residents of South Joynagar and Hawra up to the Irimara Tila. As a result of the bridge construction, plans are now underway to revamp the roads in the area. A 16-foot road is set to be constructed, as inspected by Mayor Deepak Mazumdar along with Corporate Nitu Guha De, Mandal President Amitabh Bhattacharya, and others.
The completion of the Bailey bridge not only improves connectivity for the residents but also opens up opportunities for further development and infrastructure enhancement in the region. The efforts of the local government and officials have been applauded by the community for addressing their long-standing concern and improving their quality of life.
