Nitish Kumar was sworn in as the Chief Minister of Bihar for a record 10th time in a grand ceremony at Patna’s Gandhi Maidan. This comes after the National Democratic Alliance (NDA), led by Nitish Kumar’s Janata Dal (United) and the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP), secured a sweeping majority in the Bihar Assembly elections, winning 202 out of 243 seats.
The oath-taking ceremony was attended by several prominent leaders, including Prime Minister Narendra Modi, Home Minister Amit Shah, BJP President JP Nadda, and Union Ministers Rajnath Singh and Dharmendra Pradhan. Chief Ministers from seven states were also present at the event.
In addition to Nitish Kumar, 26 other leaders were sworn in as part of the new NDA-led Bihar cabinet. Among them were BJP leaders Samrat Choudhary and Vijay Sinha. The ceremony took place at Gandhi Maidan, a historic venue where Nitish Kumar has been inaugurated as Chief Minister in the past.
During the ceremony, RJD leader Tejashwi Yadav, in his first public statement since the election loss, extended his greetings to the new government and expressed hope that it would live up to the expectations of the people of Bihar. The new cabinet is expected to focus on accelerating Bihar’s progress and development under the rule of law.
Nitish Kumar was elected as the leader of the NDA Legislature Party following his unanimous election as the JD(U) Legislature Party leader. With a strong mandate from the people of Bihar, Nitish Kumar’s return as Chief Minister marks a new chapter in the state’s political landscape.
