The Northeast Frontier Railway (NFR) General Manager, Chetan Kumar Shrivastava, recently conducted a two-day safety inspection in Tripura to ensure operational safety across key railway installations in the state. This inspection, which took place on June 18 and 19, focused on track conditions and infrastructure as the monsoon season poses operational challenges in the region.
Starting at Dharmanagar railway station in North Tripura district, Shrivastava used the window trailing method to closely observe track geometry, ballast conditions, and other critical components en route to Agartala railway station. This method involves monitoring these factors from a moving train, providing a unique perspective on the state of the railway infrastructure.
During the inspection, the General Manager inaugurated a new Electronic Laboratory at the Agartala Coaching Depot. This laboratory is intended to enhance diagnostic and repair capabilities, ensuring that passenger coaches are well-maintained and ready for service. Additionally, Shrivastava assessed maintenance practices, safety adherence, and the depot’s capacity to handle increasing traffic.
Shrivastava also visited the staff running room at Agartala to evaluate living conditions, hygiene standards, and available amenities for train operating crews. These factors are crucial for ensuring the alertness and well-being of the staff, contributing to safe and efficient train operations.
Throughout the inspection, the General Manager emphasized the importance of upholding high standards of infrastructure, passenger service, and punctuality. With the monsoon season in full swing, Shrivastava directed officials to remain vigilant and proactive in order to minimize weather-related disruptions and ensure the safety and smooth operation of trains across Tripura.
By engaging with railway staff and supervisors, reviewing safety protocols, and emphasizing operational preparedness, Shrivastava demonstrated his commitment to maintaining a high level of safety and efficiency within the railway system. This comprehensive inspection serves as a proactive measure to address potential challenges during the monsoon season and beyond, ensuring that railway operations in Tripura continue to run smoothly and safely.
