The Pakistan Super League matches will no longer be broadcast in India following the recent terror attack at Pahalgam, where militants killed 26 Indians and injured 10 others. Fancode, the live streaming platform, has decided to pull the plug on the live broadcast of the PSL in India, with all related videos removed from their website.
While an official statement from Fancode regarding the decision is still pending, the platform had previously streamed the first 13 matches of Pakistan’s premier T20 tournament. The sports world has expressed strong condemnation for the attack, with the Board of Control for Cricket in India issuing a statement denouncing the “ghastly and cowardly” act.
The longstanding tensions between India and Pakistan have already prevented bilateral cricket series between the two countries for many years due to past terror attacks. BCCI secretary Devajit Saikia extended heartfelt condolences to the victims’ families and expressed solidarity with them in their time of grief.
Indian cricket star Virat Kohli also shared his sorrow over the attack on social media, offering prayers for the victims’ families and calling for justice to be served. The tragic incident has once again highlighted the ongoing security challenges in the region and the impact they have on sports and other aspects of daily life.
