The Philippines has opened its doors to Indian passport holders by introducing visa-free entry options for eligible travellers. With its stunning landscapes and beautiful beaches, the Philippines has become a popular destination for Indian tourists. The Embassy of the Philippines in New Delhi has announced two types of short-term visa-free entry for Indian visitors, each with specific eligibility requirements.
The first option is a 14-day visa-free entry, allowing Indian citizens to stay in the Philippines for up to two weeks for tourism purposes without the need for a visa. However, this category is non-extendable and cannot be converted into another visa type. To qualify for this visa-free entry, Indian travellers must provide proof of confirmed accommodation, evidence of sufficient funds to cover expenses during their stay, a confirmed return or onward ticket, and must have no negative immigration history in the Philippines.
The second option is an enhanced 30-day visa-free entry for Indian nationals who hold valid visas or permanent residency permits from key countries such as Australia, Japan, America, Canada, Schengen states, Singapore, and the United Kingdom. To qualify for this option, Indian travellers must provide proof of a valid visa or residence permit from these countries, a passport valid for at least six months beyond their stay, a confirmed return or onward ticket, and must have no derogatory record with Philippine immigration authorities.
For Indian travellers who do not meet the eligibility requirements for visa-free entry, the e-visa route is still available. The 9(a) Temporary Visitor Visa, which can be obtained through the official e-visa portal, allows for a 30-day single-entry stay in the Philippines. Applicants must register on evisa.gov.ph and provide a valid passport, a government-issued ID, passport-sized photographs, proof of accommodation, a return or onward travel ticket, and financial proof to support their stay.
Overall, the introduction of visa-free entry options for Indian passport holders is expected to further boost tourism between India and the Philippines, making travel between the two countries more accessible and convenient for Indian travellers.
