Fifty individuals from various parts of Punjab are currently under scrutiny by Punjab Police for their alleged links to individuals arrested for spying for Pakistan. This comes after two more individuals, Sukhpreet Singh of Adiyan village and Karanbir Singh of Chandu Wadala, were recently arrested for espionage activities.
According to sources, the two individuals were arrested in Gurdaspur, where police recovered three mobile phones and eight live cartridges of .30 bore from their possession. Preliminary investigations revealed that they were in direct contact with operatives of Pakistan’s Inter-Services Intelligence (ISI) and had shared sensitive information about the Indian Armed Forces.
While these two individuals have been arrested, the 50 others currently under scrutiny have not been detained. Police are conducting thorough verifications of their antecedents to determine any potential involvement in espionage activities.
Earlier in May, a 31-year-old woman named Guzala and her associate Yameen Mohammad were arrested in Malerkotla for allegedly aiding a Pakistani official posted at the High Commission in Delhi. Guzala had reportedly been working as an informant, sharing details about army activities in exchange for money.
On May 12, Neeraj Kumar from Pathankot was arrested for issuing SIM cards to unauthorized individuals using fraudulent documentation. It was discovered that an unauthorized SIM card issued by Kumar had been active in Pakistan before being deactivated.
Raqeeb Khan from Roorkee in Uttarakhand, who had been working as a tailor in a shop inside Bathinda Cantonment, was arrested on May 13 for allegedly spying for Pakistan. He admitted to possessing military documents left behind by Army personnel at his shop.
Additionally, two men, Palak Sher Masih and Suraj Masih, were arrested in Amritsar for photographing and sharing sensitive details of army cantonments and airbases. They were believed to have direct links with Pakistani intelligence operatives.
Overall, all the arrested individuals were allegedly in constant contact with the ISI and passed on information about troop movements and key strategic locations in Punjab, Himachal Pradesh, and Jammu and Kashmir. Investigations are ongoing to uncover the extent of their activities and any potential connections to a broader espionage network operating in the region.
