a road blockade on the Killa-Udaipur highway on Wednesday. Their demand was simple and urgent—access to clean drinking water.
Despite repeated appeals, the community claims that authorities have failed to ensure a basic water supply in the area. With temperatures soaring and daily life disrupted, locals had no option but to hit the streets to draw attention to their plight.
“We have families and children who are struggling every single day just to fetch a bucket of water. How long can we survive like this?” said one of the protestors.
This blockade continued for hours, affecting traffic and movement in the region. While police reached the site to monitor the situation, residents refused to disperse until they received assurances of immediate government intervention.
Such incidents are becoming more frequent in Tripura, especially in semi-urban and rural belts, where infrastructure gaps persist despite development claims.
