AGARTALA: With a thunderous call to resist “neo-fascist” attacks and intensify the struggle for education, employment, and a drug-free generation, the 19th Sadar Divisional Conference of the Democratic Youth Federation of India (DYFI) commenced yesterday with a massive public rally. The organizational proceedings of the conference began this morning at the Dasharath Deb Auditorium in Supari Bagan, following a solemn tribute to the martyrs.
The two-day conference aims to mobilize the youth against the rising challenges of unemployment and the growing menace of drug addiction in the state.
A Call to Save the Generation
The conference began with the hoisting of the organizational flag and the laying of floral wreaths at the martyrs’ column. Leaders emphasized that the youth of Tripura are currently caught between a lack of job opportunities and the “blueprint of social destruction” through narcotics.
Key Themes of the Conference:
- Resistance Against Fascism: Leaders urged the youth to stand firm against political intimidation and undemocratic attacks on civil liberties.
- Education and Employment: A demand for the immediate filling of all vacant government posts and the protection of the right to affordable, quality education.
- Anti-Drug Crusade: The DYFI leadership reaffirmed its commitment to the “Save the Generation” movement, aimed at rescuing the state’s youth from the grip of the drug mafia.
Presence of State and Divisional Leadership
The conference was graced by the presence of the top brass of the state’s youth wing, providing strategic direction to the delegates.
Key Dignitaries Present:
- Palash Bhowmik: President, DYFI Tripura State Committee.
- Nabarun Deb: Secretary, DYFI Tripura State Committee.
- Joydeep Raut: Secretary, Sadar Divisional Committee.
- Other Senior Leaders: Several members of the State and Divisional Secretariat were also in attendance to oversee the proceedings.
Voices from the Podium
Speaking at the inaugural session, DYFI State Secretary Nabarun Deb lashed out at the current administration, alleging that the “Double Engine” government has failed to deliver on its promise of 50,000 jobs per year.
”The youth of Tripura are being pushed into a dark alley of despair and addiction because the government has no vision for employment. Our 19th Sadar Conference is not just a meeting; it is the launchpad for a massive agitation that will demand accountability for every single promise made to our generation,” Deb asserted.
The Road Ahead
Over the next two days, delegates will participate in rigorous discussions on the “Secretarial Report” and draft a roadmap for future movements across the Sadar division. A new executive committee for the Sadar division is also expected to be elected during the concluding session tomorrow.
