In a significant move to curb traffic accidents and raise public awareness, a seminar was organized today at the Agiye Chalo Sangha premises in Agartala, centered around the theme “Sadak Suraksha, Jeevan Raksha” (Road Safety is Life Safety). The event was held as part of the ongoing National Road Safety Month celebrations.
Expert Insights on Traffic Laws
The seminar saw the participation of high-profile officials and social leaders. Dibakar Debnath, Chief Inspector of Motor Vehicles, graced the occasion as the keynote speaker. Addressing the gathering, Shri Debnath emphasized the critical importance of adhering to traffic regulations to prevent the loss of precious lives.
He highlighted several key points during his session:
- The mandatory use of helmets for both riders and pillion passengers.
- The necessity of wearing seatbelts in four-wheelers.
- Strict avoidance of mobile phone usage while driving.
- The role of regular vehicle maintenance in ensuring road safety.
Collaborative Efforts for Safety
Biplab Kar, President of the Mazdoor Monitoring Cell, was also present as a guest of honor. In his speech, he focused on the welfare of drivers and the need for a disciplined transport system. He urged the members of the Mazdoor Monitoring Cell and the local youth to act as “Safety Ambassadors” on the road.
”Road safety is not just a government responsibility; it is a collective duty. Every time a driver follows a rule, they are potentially saving a family from tragedy,” remarked Biplab Kar.
Community Outreach
The members of Agiye Chalo Sangha and local transport workers attended the session, where interactive discussions took place regarding the complexities of the Motor Vehicles Act. The organizers expressed their commitment to conducting more such grassroots-level awareness programs throughout the month to ensure that the message of road safety reaches every household in the state.
