The search for 19-year-old Sneha Debnath, a student from Tripura who has gone missing in New Delhi, has intensified as Tripura’s Chief Minister Manik Saha has instructed the police to take immediate action on the matter. Debnath, a resident of Sabroom in South Tripura district, disappeared under mysterious circumstances in the national capital.
According to reports, Debnath was last in contact with her family on July 7, when she informed her mother that she would be accompanying a friend named Pitunia to Sarai Rohilla Railway Station. Her final phone call was made at 5:56 am on that day. However, her phone was found switched off by 8:45 am, and it was later confirmed that Pitunia had not met Sneha as planned.
A cab driver traced by the family confirmed dropping Sneha near Delhi’s Signature Bridge, a location with safety concerns and poor CCTV coverage. The lack of surveillance footage in the area has made it challenging for investigators to reconstruct Sneha’s final movements.
On July 9, the Delhi Police Crime Branch, with assistance from the National Disaster Response Force (NDRF), conducted an extensive search within a seven-kilometre radius of the Signature Bridge area. Unfortunately, the search did not yield any concrete leads.
Sneha’s family remains deeply concerned, noting that she left without any belongings and had not withdrawn money in the past four months. Her bank account remains untouched.
Authorities have issued a public appeal for anyone with information about Sneha’s whereabouts to come forward. The case is under active investigation, and the search efforts continue to intensify.
The Chief Minister’s Office of Tripura has assured that necessary steps are being taken to locate Sneha and ensure her safe return. The disappearance of the young student has sparked widespread concern and efforts to find her continue with urgency.
