Agartala, Tripura: A seminar titled “SC/ST Reservation: Present Context, Challenges and the Road Ahead” was organised at the Muktadhara Auditorium, Agartala. The programme was jointly organised by the Tripura Tribal Officers Welfare Forum (TTOWF), the All Tripura SC Officers Welfare Society, and the Tipra Engineers Society.
The seminar focused on the current status of SC/ST reservation, the challenges being faced in its implementation, and the future roadmap to ensure social justice and inclusive development.
The programme was attended by Sudhangshu Das, Minister for Scheduled Caste Welfare, as the Chief Guest. Animesh Debbarma, Minister for Forests, and Kishor Barman, Minister for Panchayat, were present as Guests of Honour.
The keynote address was delivered by S C Das, former Commissioner, who spoke in detail on constitutional provisions, policy gaps, and the need for administrative sensitivity in implementing reservation policies. Niranjan Barman, former Director of the SC Welfare Department, attended as a Special Guest and shared insights from his administrative experience.
The seminar was presided over by Ratnajit Debbarma, President of TTOWF, while Jogendra Debbarma, General Secretary of TTOWF, addressed organisational perspectives and future initiatives.
Speakers collectively emphasised the need to protect constitutional safeguards, address emerging challenges, and strengthen institutional mechanisms to ensure equitable opportunities for SC and ST communities. The seminar concluded with an interactive session and a call for continued dialogue and policy-driven action.
