Farmers in the state are feeling encouraged as the minimum support price for rice has increased, improving their livelihoods. Each farmer’s family is becoming self-reliant.
With the goal of doubling the income of farmers in the state, the state government has taken a unilateral initiative to purchase rice at a minimum support price this year as well. This initiative, led by the state’s Department of Food, Public Distribution, and Consumer Affairs, along with the Department of Agriculture and Farmer Welfare, is part of the government’s efforts to support farmers in the state.
Today, an official announcement was made at the inter-state truck terminal in Jirania Madhabbari, where the Food Corporation of India (FCI) will be purchasing rice at a minimum support price from farmers in Jirania district. The event was announced by Food Minister Susanta Chowdhury.
Present at the event were special secretary of the Food Department, Debapriya Bardhan, director of the Food Department, Sumit Lodh, director of the Agriculture Department, Phani Bhushan Jamatia, Chairman of the Jirania Nagar Panchayat, Ratan Kumar Das, and Chairman of the Jirania Panchayat Samiti, Pritam Debnath.
This initiative is expected to significantly benefit farmers in the state and help in achieving the goal of doubling their income.
