The peaceful valleys of Pahalgam in Jammu & Kashmir were shattered by a tragic terrorist attack that claimed the lives of 28 people, including several families from Tripura. What was supposed to be a relaxing vacation turned into a nightmare for these tourists as chaos and fear gripped the picturesque region.
One survivor, Supriya Chakraborty, shared his terrifying experience. Recalling the moment he heard gunfire while on horseback with his family, Chakraborty described the panic and chaos that ensued. People were screaming and running in every direction as the peaceful atmosphere quickly turned into a scene of terror.
Another survivor, Manik Debnath, also recounted his harrowing experience. He and his wife had just finished exploring Pahalgam when the attack began. Their driver acted quickly and got them out of harm’s way, but all their plans for the trip were abruptly canceled.
The sudden influx of security forces in the area was unprecedented, according to Debnath. Military vehicles, helicopters, and bomb squads quickly descended on the region to secure the area and ensure the safety of the remaining tourists. Despite being safe in Gulmarg now, the fear and trauma of the attack still linger for the survivors.
The families from Tripura, along with other tourists, have been left shaken by the events that unfolded during what was meant to be a peaceful vacation. The memories of the chaos and fear will likely haunt them for a long time to come. The tragic attack serves as a stark reminder of the ongoing security challenges in the region and the need for vigilance while traveling to such areas.
