Three Bangladeshi nationals were recently detained by Tripura Police in the West Chandrapur area under the Dharmanagar subdivision in North District for allegedly entering India illegally. The trio, identified as Md. Nur Alam, Raihan Mia, and Mahiuddin, were found to have crossed the Indo-Bangladesh border with the help of brokers around six months ago.
After their illegal entry, the three individuals traveled to Bengaluru, where they reportedly paid ₹5,000 each to obtain fake Aadhaar cards totaling ₹15,000. Following their time in Bengaluru, they moved to Kolkata and various parts of North 24 Parganas district before eventually returning to Tripura.
Upon their return, the three Bangladeshi nationals sought shelter at the residence of a local broker named Islam in West Chandrapur. Acting on a tip-off, police conducted a raid at the location and apprehended the individuals. It was revealed that the broker Islam, who charged ₹12,000 per person for arranging their illegal entry, is currently on the run.
Authorities have launched an investigation into the case and are actively searching for other members of the cross-border trafficking network involved in facilitating the illegal entry of individuals from Bangladesh into India. The detained individuals are residents of the Brahmanbaria district in Bangladesh and are currently in police custody.
