A heartbreaking incident has cast a pall of sorrow over Dhumacherra, under the Bottila Village Committee of Longtarai Valley in Dhalai district. On November 17, a young child from Ashtakumar Para, identified as the son of local resident Bishwakumar Debbarma, tragically lost his life in a road accident near the local market.
According to local sources, the child had accompanied family members to the nearby bazaar when a speeding vehicle accidentally hit him. Despite immediate efforts to seek medical help, the child succumbed to his injuries on the spot, leaving the entire village in shock and grief.
In a gesture of compassion and solidarity, the Leader of the Opposition visited the bereaved family today. He expressed his heartfelt condolences to the grieving parents and assured them of all possible support. The leader described the incident as deeply tragic and emphasized the need for stronger road safety measures in rural markets, especially to protect children.
Villagers gathered at the family home to offer their sympathies, mourning the untimely loss of the child. Community members urged authorities to implement stricter traffic monitoring and awareness programs to prevent such avoidable tragedies in the future.
This incident has once again highlighted the urgent need for improved road safety and infrastructure in remote areas of the state.
