Transport and Tourism Minister Sushanta Chowdhury emphasized the vital role of engineers in the development of Tripura’s infrastructure during the 19th Annual General Meeting of the Indian Building Congress (IBC) Tripura Centre. Held at the Conference Hall of the PWD in Netaji Chowmuhani, Agartala, the minister highlighted the importance of skilled engineers in realizing the government’s development vision for the state.
Chowdhury acknowledged that while the government can initiate various projects for infrastructural development, the successful implementation of these projects relies heavily on the efficiency and dedication of engineers. He stressed that Tripura can only progress towards holistic development with the commitment and expertise of these professionals.
Referring to Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s vision, Chowdhury mentioned the transformation of the Look East Policy into the Act East Policy to enhance connectivity and growth in the Northeast region. He pointed out that Tripura, situated near Bangladesh on three sides, has benefited from the government’s efforts to strengthen regional connectivity.
The minister emphasized that infrastructure development should encompass various sectors such as railways, national highways, waterways, and more to ensure comprehensive progress. He called upon all stakeholders to collaborate and work together towards realizing the Prime Minister’s vision of making India a Vishwa Guru.
Regarding regional connectivity, Chowdhury expressed concerns about the current state of India-Bangladesh relations, particularly in relation to infrastructure projects at Nischintapur and Sabroom. He expressed hope for the restoration of peace, prosperity, and harmony between the two nations, emphasizing the importance of maintaining strong ties with Bangladesh as a close neighbor.
In conclusion, Minister Chowdhury reiterated the significance of engineers in driving Tripura’s infrastructural development and urged all stakeholders to unite in advancing the state’s progress towards becoming a key player in India’s growth story.
