Debra, Midnapore: Tension gripped the region after a tribal doctor, Dr. Soren, allegedly died while in police custody in Debra, sparking massive protests and anger across the community.
According to initial reports, Dr. Soren was detained by local police and later died inside the lock-up under circumstances that remain unclear. His family and community members have alleged custodial torture, demanding a full investigation into the incident.
The news of his death quickly spread, triggering widespread outrage. Hundreds of tribals poured onto the streets of Debra and surrounding areas, staging demonstrations and blocking roads. Protesters accused the authorities of targeting tribals and demanded immediate justice for Dr. Soren.
