Trinamool Congress MP Abhishek Banerjee delivered a powerful message condemning Pakistan as the “vile handler” of terrorism during a speech in Tokyo, Japan. Banerjee, who is part of an all-party delegation visiting Japan to expose Pakistan’s alleged role in cross-border terrorism, emphasized India’s zero tolerance towards terror.
Led by JD(U) MP Sanjay Jha, the delegation is one of seven groups tasked by the Indian government to visit 33 international capitals to garner support against terrorism. Speaking at an event hosted by the Indian Embassy, Banerjee likened terrorism to a “rabid dog” and Pakistan as its handler, calling for global unity in tackling the issue.
Banerjee highlighted India’s recent precision air strikes on terror infrastructure in Pakistan and Pakistan-occupied Kashmir in response to the Pahalgam terror attack on April 22, which killed 26 people. He commended India’s measured approach in its response, stating that all actions have been precise, calculated, and non-escalatory.
The Indian government has attributed the Pahalgam attack to The Resistance Front (TRF), described as a proxy for the UN-designated terrorist group Lashkar-e-Taiba. Banerjee criticized Pakistan’s attempts to distance itself from the violence, pointing to images of Pakistani army officials attending funerals of slain terrorists.
Banerjee urged the Indian diaspora to become vocal advocates in the fight against global terrorism, referring to them as the country’s “greatest asset.” He encouraged them to raise awareness within their circles and networks, emphasizing India’s leadership in the global battle against terrorism.
The Indian Embassy in Japan shared details of the delegation’s efforts, highlighting the group’s unified stance against Pakistan’s alleged involvement in the Pahalgam attack. They reiterated India’s commitment to combating cross-border terrorism and urged the diaspora to continue spreading this message in Japan.
The delegation also expressed gratitude for the diaspora’s tribute to the victims of the Pahalgam terror attack during an event held at the Embassy. Overall, Banerjee’s speech underscored India’s firm stance against terrorism and the importance of global solidarity in addressing this pressing issue.
