Tripura is ramping up efforts to ensure the successful and efficient rollout of the PM-SURYA Free Solar Scheme, a flagship initiative of Prime Minister Narendra Modi. Officials in the state are prioritizing the timely installation of solar panels in eligible households while maintaining strict quality standards.
During a review meeting held at the Corporate Office of Tripura State Electricity Corporation Limited (TSECL), Power Secretary Abhishek Singh (IAS) emphasized the need for agencies and vendors involved in the project to fulfill their responsibilities. He warned of strict action against those who fail to meet their obligations and reminded stakeholders that agencies will be held accountable for the five-year warranty period of the installations.
Concerns were raised during the meeting about delays in bank loan approvals, impacting the project’s timelines. In response, Secretary Singh pledged to personally engage with senior bank officials if necessary and promised government support to address logistical challenges related to the transport and supply of materials.
TSECL Managing Director Biswajit Basu assured that the project is under his direct supervision and that negligence would not be tolerated. He emphasized the goal of reducing electricity bills for consumers in the state and pledged full cooperation from officials at all levels.
Deputy General Manager (Corporate) Shishir Debbarma provided an update on the project’s progress, reporting that over 16,000 consumers have registered for the scheme, with over 1,100 households already having solar panels installed.
Secretary Singh stressed the importance of extending the scheme’s benefits to rural areas and announced incentives for agencies working in villages. A dedicated helpline for vendors will also be established to ensure smooth implementation of the project.
The focus on the PM-SURYA Free Solar Scheme in Tripura underscores the state’s commitment to clean energy initiatives and the government’s efforts to provide affordable and sustainable electricity solutions for its residents.
