The Tripura BJP has accused the Tipra Motha Party of orchestrating attacks on party workers and offices in areas under the Tripura Tribal Areas Autonomous District Council (TTAADC). The alleged incidents of violence reportedly occurred following a joining program in the Takarjala Assembly Constituency, where Chief Minister Manik Saha addressed party workers.
According to Bipin Debbarma, the BJP’s general secretary, party workers returning to their localities after the event were subjected to brutal attacks. A three-member delegation, including tribal welfare minister Bikash Debbarma and former MP Rebati Tripura, visited the affected offices to assess the damage. Debbarma revealed that the BJP office at Khumulwng, the TTAADC headquarters, was set on fire, with photographs of Prime Minister Narendra Modi, Chief Minister Saha, and Maharaja Bir Bikram being destroyed. Another office in Jampuijala was allegedly vandalized and ransacked, with several workers reportedly assaulted. Debbarma pointed the blame at members of the Tipra Motha Party and claimed that a vehicle belonging to the local Mandal president was also damaged in the attacks.
The BJP leader strongly condemned the violent acts and emphasized the need for peace to safeguard democratic processes. He stated that the BJP’s organizational strength was growing across the state, with more people joining the party due to the development initiatives undertaken by the state government. Debbarma expressed confidence in the BJP’s prospects in the upcoming 2026 District Council elections.
When asked about the possibility of an alliance with the Tipra Motha Party, Debbarma indicated that any decision would be made by the party’s top leadership. He called for authorities to take strict action against those responsible for the attacks and urged for calm to prevail in the region. The BJP’s allegations against the Tipra Motha Party have raised concerns about political violence in the region and the need for peaceful coexistence among different political entities.
