Bishramganj, Tripura (Big Breaking) 17th March 2025. :
In an unprecedented and shocking incident, Bishramganj Vidya Jyoti Higher Secondary School became the target of a massive burglary late Sunday night, leaving the entire educational community stunned. According to reports, a gang of thieves broke into the school and looted all official documents and the hard disks of school computers, containing sensitive student records, financial accounts, and crucial institutional data.
The incident, which has been described as the first of its kind in the region, has raised serious questions about the security of educational institutions in Tripura. Locals are alarmed that after houses, temples, and mosques, thieves are now targeting schools—a worrying trend that has sent shockwaves across the district.
As soon as the news of the break-in spread, police from Bishramganj Police Station rushed to the spot early Monday morning and began an investigation. Preliminary assessments suggest that the main aim of the burglary may have been to steal sensitive information rather than valuables, as all key financial records and students’ documents have been taken.
A school staff member, speaking on condition of anonymity, said:
“They took everything—from student records, mark sheets, admission files to financial transaction documents. Even the hard disks from computers were removed. It looks like a well-planned theft targeting data.”
Students’ confidential academic records, internal assessments, and financial details of the school are now feared to be in the wrong hands, creating panic among parents and teachers alike.
Interestingly, police sources indicate that they are investigating deeper angles, suspecting that this may not be a simple case of theft but possibly a targeted operation to erase or access crucial school data.
“We are exploring if there is any other motive behind this incident. There might be an attempt to destroy evidence related to ongoing financial matters or academic records,” said a senior police officer involved in the investigation.
The incident has left parents, students, and staff deeply concerned, as the loss of academic documents could impact students’ future prospects, including board exams, scholarships, and admissions.
Residents are also questioning the role of the administration and law enforcement in ensuring the safety of vital educational institutions.
“If schools are no longer safe, where will our children go to study? We demand immediate action and strict punishment for those involved,” said a local community leader.
This unprecedented theft has sparked demands for an urgent review of security arrangements in all schools across Tripura, including the installation of CCTV cameras and the deployment of security guards to prevent such incidents in the future.
As police continue their probe, the mystery surrounding this high-profile burglary deepens, and the entire state watches closely for answers.
