Tripura Chief Minister Dr. Manik Saha recently announced that Tripura has become one of the first states to pass the Jan Vishwas Ordinance 2025 as part of its progressive legal reforms. The ordinance aims to decriminalize provisions in various state acts and rules, as well as repeal obsolete laws.
Dr. Saha highlighted these advancements during the NER–Stakeholders’ Consultation Program on May 31, emphasizing Tripura’s proactive role in easing governance and compliance frameworks. He mentioned that the state is actively working to reduce compliance burdens in laws governing local bodies, industrial corporations, and utility service agencies, under the guidance of the task force on deregulation set up by the Cabinet Secretary.
The Chief Minister’s announcement aligns with the Centre’s broader initiative to promote “Ease of Living” and “Ease of Doing Business” by eliminating outdated regulations and encouraging citizen- and investor-friendly governance in the Northeast. Tripura’s efforts to streamline its legal framework and create a more conducive environment for businesses and residents are commendable and reflect the state’s commitment to fostering growth and development.
