The Chief Minister of Tripura, Dr. Manik Saha, today visited the flood-affected area of Chandrapur and other places in Agartala to assess the situation and provide necessary assistance. This visit comes as the Tripura government has placed all eight districts of the state on red alert due to a prediction of extremely heavy rainfall activity.
Arun Kumar Roy, Additional Secretary of the Revenue Department, issued an order directing district magistrates to take preparedness measures in light of the red alert issued by the Regional Weather Forecasting Centre in Guwahati. The alert was shared by the Integrated Control Room for Emergency Response, Ministry of Home Affairs, Government of India, predicting extremely heavy rainfall for 1st June.
The Meteorological Centre in Agartala reported heavy rainfall in most parts of Tripura, with very heavy rainfall in West, Khowai, North, and Unakoti districts, and heavy rainfall in South district. Moderate rainfall was reported in Sepahijala, Gomati, and Dhalai districts over the last 24 hours.
A Red Alert has been issued for West and Khowai districts until 2nd June, while an Orange Alert remains in place for the rest of the districts. Starting from 3rd June, a Yellow Alert has been issued for the state.
The Tripura government is taking proactive measures to ensure the safety and well-being of its residents in the face of extreme weather conditions.
