Tripura Chief Minister Manik Saha is championing the success of recent kidney transplants in state-run hospitals as a major milestone for public healthcare in the region. During the 49th edition of the Mukhyamantri Samipesu public outreach programme, Saha highlighted the completion of three successful kidney transplants, a significant achievement for the state’s healthcare sector.
Encouraging citizens to take advantage of the super-speciality services available within Tripura, Saha emphasized the importance of utilizing these facilities for complex treatments such as organ transplantation. As both the Chief Minister and the Minister of Health, Saha underscored the government’s dedication to providing quality healthcare services locally.
During the public outreach programme, Saha addressed various health-related pleas from citizens, taking immediate action to ensure financial and medical assistance through government schemes. One such case was Motilal Debbarma from Ujan Abhaynagar, who sought help for his son’s treatment. Saha directed the Health Department and Social Welfare officials to provide the necessary support promptly.
In response to an appeal from Jayanti Pal (Das) from Belonia regarding her husband’s heart condition, Saha personally coordinated with GB Hospital’s Medical Superintendent to ensure the patient received free medicines. Additionally, for Sukul Mia of Sabroom, whose wife requires a kidney transplant, the Chief Minister personally reviewed medical reports and encouraged the family to proceed with the treatment locally, instilling confidence in the state’s healthcare infrastructure.
Several other appeals for medical assistance came from families in Agartala, Kumari Tilla, Chailengta, and Milan Sangh, primarily seeking eye and general medical treatments. Saha assured all families of assistance under the Chief Minister’s Jan Arogya Yojana, a government healthcare scheme.
Senior health and welfare officials, including Health Services Director Tapan Majumdar, Social Welfare Director Tapan Kumar Das, and GB Hospital Superintendent Shankar Chakraborty, were present during the public outreach programme to ensure swift administrative follow-up on the cases addressed by the Chief Minister. Overall, Saha’s emphasis on utilizing state-run super-speciality care and celebrating the success of kidney transplants reflects Tripura’s commitment to enhancing public healthcare services.
