Tripura Chief Minister Prof. (Dr.) Manik Saha has strongly denounced efforts to sow discord in the state, particularly targeting the Janajati community. Speaking at the inauguration of the Takajala Mandal office in West District, Dr. Saha emphasized that divisive politics reminiscent of past communist strategies will not be successful in Tripura.
“Tripura’s people value peace, development, and democracy. Our government will not tolerate the use of force in any circumstances. If anyone attacks us, we will respond firmly through legal means,” Dr. Saha declared.
During the event, 690 new voters from 200 families joined the Bharatiya Janata Party. Dr. Saha paid tribute to the sacrifices of BJP founders, such as Dr. Shyama Prasad Mukherjee, and reiterated the party’s core principles inspired by Pandit Deen Dayal Upadhyaya. “Those who believe they can intimidate us are mistaken. Temporary obstacles or acts of violence will not deter us,” he added.
Dr. Saha also compared the BJP’s governance with previous regimes, pointing out instances of violence during Communist and Congress rule. “Politics should be conducted with dignity. The BJP stands for ‘Sabka Saath, Sabka Vikas, Sabka Vishwas’—progress must be inclusive. Under the leadership of Prime Minister Narendra Modi, we are committed to ensuring development for all,” he stated.
Addressing the Janajati community, the Chief Minister stressed that their socio-economic development is a top priority for the government. “In the past, the community was exploited for vote-bank politics and misled. Since our government took office, we have taken measures to empower them and ensure equitable development,” he highlighted.
While the BJP does not seek confrontation, Dr. Saha made it clear that legal action will be taken against anyone who tries to harm party workers or hinder development projects. “We desire a peaceful atmosphere in Tripura. People are welcome to express their opinions, but any unjust aggression will face justice through the appropriate legal channels,” Dr. Saha concluded.
