In a significant development for the judiciary in Tripura, Chief Minister Dr. Manik Saha emphasized the need for delivering justice in a fair, fast, and affordable manner. During the inauguration of the new Court of Sub-Divisional Judicial Magistrate and Civil Judge (Junior Division) at Mohanpur, Dr. Saha urged advocates and judges to work diligently for the welfare of the people.
Describing the event as a “historic milestone” in the development of the subdivision, Dr. Saha highlighted the existing judicial infrastructure in Tripura, which includes eight district courts and 15 sub-divisional courts. With the addition of the new court in Mohanpur, the total number of sub-divisional courts has now risen to 16. The Chief Minister also announced plans to establish more such courts across other sub-divisions, using Mohanpur as a model.
Dr. Saha stressed the importance of the judiciary in nation-building and the need to avoid delays in delivering justice. He noted that delays often occur when advocates appear unprepared, causing hardship to those awaiting justice. “Judges keenly observe advocates. If lawyers come unprepared, judgments get delayed. In this age of technology, we must ensure justice is delivered swiftly,” he said.
Referring to Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s vision of development, security, and self-reliance, Dr. Saha reiterated the state government’s commitment to supporting the judiciary. He emphasized the importance of ensuring that justice is accessible to all at an affordable cost. With good governance as the guiding principle, Tripura is on track to becoming a Viksit Tripura, with positive growth indicators in the economy, employment generation, women empowerment, and overall development.
The remarks made by Dr. Saha underscore the government’s dedication to strengthening the judicial system in Tripura and ensuring that justice is delivered efficiently and affordably to all citizens.
