Tripura Chief Minister Manik Saha has taken a stand for the Janajati community, demanding reforms and slamming the previous left government for engaging in what he called “vote bank politics.” In a recent address at the District Level Mega Campaign on Dharti Aaba Jan Bhagidari Abhiyan, CM Saha highlighted the challenges faced by the Bru people in the state and emphasized the need for their development.
In a letter to Union Home Minister Amit Shah, CM Saha raised concerns about the Bru community and stressed that the overall development of the country cannot be achieved without uplifting the Janajati community. He criticized the previous left-front-led government for exploiting the Janajati community for political gains.
While speaking at the event, CM Saha praised the BJP government’s initiatives since 2018 to improve the condition of the Janajati community and make them self-reliant. He commended Prime Minister Narendra Modi for his efforts in connecting with people and working towards the betterment of all sections of society.
CM Saha also highlighted the contributions of Janajati community members in holding high offices, including the current President of India. He emphasized that without the development of backward classes, the progress of the country would not be possible. He lauded PM Modi for his dedication to working for the Janajati people since taking office in 2014.
The Tripura government, under CM Saha’s leadership, has been implementing various beneficiary schemes for the Janajati community, including initiatives for drinking water, hostels for Janajati students, tribal multipurpose marketing centers, and land pattas. The Dharti Aaba Jan Bhagidari initiative, involving 779 Gram Panchayats and Village Councils and 20 departments, aims to benefit the community as a whole.
Several dignitaries, including Social Welfare and Social Education Minister Tinku Roy, Tribal Welfare Minister Bikas Debbarma, and other officials, were present at the event. CM Saha reiterated the government’s commitment to the welfare and development of the Janajati community in Tripura and emphasized the importance of inclusive growth for the overall progress of the state and the country.
