Tripura Chief Minister Manik Saha is calling on the people of Tripura to ensure that this year’s Mayer Gaman becomes a grand success. The Chief Minister believes that the annual event has the potential to boost tourism and showcase Tripura’s cultural vibrancy at the national level.
Mayer Gaman 2025 is scheduled to take place on October 4, and preparations are already underway. Chief Minister Saha recently spoke at a preparatory meeting at the Muktadhara Auditorium, organized by the Information and Cultural Affairs Department. The meeting aimed to review the arrangements for Mayer Gaman and the Sharad Samman program during Durga Puja.
During the meeting, Chief Minister Saha highlighted the importance of learning from last year’s event and making improvements for this year. He emphasized the need for proper numbering of idols, coordination with clubs, and effective management by the police at road crossings. Dr. Saha also stressed the importance of completing ongoing drain works, repairing potholes, and ensuring compliance with safety measures.
In terms of safety, Chief Minister Saha outlined several key measures that will be put in place for Mayer Gaman. These include checking idol height, decorations, and lighting, monitoring electricity usage by clubs to prevent illegal hook lines, and having Fire and Emergency Services on alert. Additionally, ambulances with medical experts will be stationed at designated spots, and women police officers will be deployed to ensure safety.
Recognizing the significance of Mayer Gaman, Chief Minister Saha expressed his desire for the whole nation to know about Tripura’s unique carnival. He believes that the festival not only strengthens social harmony but also promotes tourism. Saha encouraged clubs to introduce unique features to make the carnival more attractive.
The Chief Minister also issued a warning against forceful collection of subscriptions, directing the police and administration to act strictly if such cases arise. He emphasized that Durga Puja remains the biggest festival in Tripura and that the people are eagerly awaiting Mayer Gaman.
