Tripura Chief Minister Manik Saha has criticized the previous Left Front government for neglecting the state’s heritage and not believing in pujas. Speaking at the inauguration of the newly renovated Parasundari Kali Temple in Agartala on August 29, Saha highlighted the importance of preserving the state’s historic sites and acknowledging the contributions of the Maharajas to Tripura’s development.
The Parasundari Kali Temple, a historic shrine built during the royal era, had fallen into disrepair due to lack of upkeep. Saha’s government responded to public demand by restoring the temple to its former glory. He contrasted this with the inaction of the previous government, stating that they did not believe in pujas and neglected important cultural landmarks.
Saha also emphasized the need for promoting domestic tourism, urging citizens to visit Tripura’s tourist destinations instead of traveling abroad. He praised Prime Minister Narendra Modi for increasing public awareness and faith in God, noting that India’s civilization remains strong because of Sanatan Dharma.
Referring to the vision of Maharaja Bir Bikram Kishore Manikya Bahadur, Saha highlighted the efforts made during the royal era to beautify Agartala and other parts of Tripura with attention to infrastructure. He stressed the importance of remembering history and acknowledging the contributions of the Maharajas to the state’s development.
The inauguration ceremony was attended by Agartala Municipal Corporation Mayor and MLA Dipak Majumdar, Central Zone Chairman Ratna Dutta, Commissioner DK Chakma, and other dignitaries. The event served as a reminder of the rich cultural heritage of Tripura and the importance of preserving and promoting its historic sites.
