Tripura Chief Minister Manik Saha reaffirmed the state government’s dedication to the welfare of its people during a high-level review meeting with all District Magistrates on August 21. The Chief Minister, according to an official release, evaluated the progress of various ongoing projects across districts and instructed officials to ensure their timely and effective implementation.
CM Saha emphasized the government’s commitment to people-centric governance and urged district administrations to proactively initiate more welfare-oriented activities that directly benefit citizens. The meeting was aimed at streamlining development efforts and ensuring that government initiatives reach the grassroots effectively.
Earlier in the week, Dr Manik Saha paid tribute to Maharaja Bir Bikram Kishore Manikya Bahadur on his 117th birth anniversary. Speaking to ANI, Tripura CM Saha praised the Maharaja’s legacy, calling him the “architect of modern Tripura.” He highlighted Maharaja Bir Bikram’s progressive ideas, reforms, and contributions to education, infrastructure, and culture, which continue to shape the state’s destiny.
“The last Maharaja of Tripura’s Manikya Empire was Bir Bikram… The way he developed Tripura in every way, the Maharaja himself established the Agartala airport in Tripura in 1942; no one took his name,” said Saha.
The Chief Minister pointed out that the Agartala airport was later renamed Maharaja Bir Bikram Airport after the BJP came to power in 2018. He criticized the previous Left Front government for not giving due respect to the Maharaja and his contributions, stating that it was only after the BJP government took office in 2018 that the Maharaja received proper recognition.
