In a significant push to attract investments across critical sectors in Tripura, Chief Minister Prof. Dr. Manik Saha held a high-level meeting on Saturday with the Reliance Jio team to discuss future collaborations and industrial opportunities in the state.
Taking to Facebook, Dr. Saha shared insights from the meeting, stating that this interaction builds on his previous discussions with Mukesh Ambani, Chairman and Managing Director of Reliance Industries, during meetings in Mumbai and Advantage Assam 2.0 in Guwahati.
“I had requested Mr. Ambani to support the vision for a ‘Viksit Tripura’ — a developed and self-reliant state. Acting on that vision, a senior team led by the Business Head (North Eastern Zone) of Reliance Jio has now visited Tripura,” Dr. Saha wrote.
The Reliance Jio team expressed keen interest in investing in a wide range of sectors, including:
- Information Technology and IT-enabled services
- Data Centres
- Natural Gas Exploration and fertilizer production
- Petroleum and Ethanol production (especially from bamboo)
- Rubber wood furniture manufacturing
- Agro-food processing
- Tourism infrastructure and promotion
Dr. Saha noted that the team showed particular enthusiasm for the IT sector, calling it a “very exciting” opportunity for transforming Tripura’s future.
“This collaboration with Reliance Group of Industries has the potential to redefine Tripura’s economic landscape and generate vast employment opportunities for local youth,” he added.
The state government is now expected to draft a follow-up plan to facilitate ease of doing business for upcoming investors.
