News Report:
The Tripura Pradesh Congress Committee held a press conference at the Congress Bhavan in Agartala where party spokesperson Prabir Chakraborty launched a sharp critique of the Modi-led Central Government. Chakraborty accused the government of pushing the country “towards exploitation,” alleging that national policies are being shaped to benefit major corporate houses such as Ambani and Adani.
He claimed that the value of the Indian rupee falling close to ₹90 per US dollar reflects severe economic mismanagement, while the Prime Minister “remains silent” on key issues affecting ordinary citizens. Chakraborty added that the BJP, which once spoke loudly against economic challenges during the Congress era, now avoids addressing similar concerns.
The Congress leader further criticised what he called the “systematic privatisation” of government institutions and rising prices of essential commodities, asserting that the common people are bearing the heaviest burden.
In response to these concerns, the Tripura Congress announced that it will take to the streets on Monday, December 8, to protest against the Centre’s economic policies, privatisation drives, and rising cost of living.
Party leaders urged citizens to join the rally and raise their voice against what they described as policies “against public welfare.”
