The Tripura Congress party is gearing up for the upcoming elections to the Tripura Tribal Areas Autonomous District Council (TTAADC), as announced by state president Asish Kumar Saha on July 19. The party met with leaders of its tribal wing to discuss strategies for the elections, which are scheduled to be held early next year.
Currently, the BJP ally Tipra Motha Party (TMP) holds power in the 30-member council that governs the tribal areas of the state. Saha stated that the Congress is focused on boosting its organizational strength for the elections and is committed to fighting with full force.
During the meeting, senior leaders, including Adivasi Congress state president Sabda Kumar Jamatia, discussed preparations for the elections and emphasized the importance of protecting the rights of tribal communities. Saha mentioned that the party will observe International Indigenous Day on August 9 and Adivasi Diwas on August 23 as part of its commitment to tribal rights.
Saha also highlighted the Congress party’s efforts in advocating for the rights of tribal people under the leadership of Rahul Gandhi and Mallikarjun Kharge. He criticized the BJP-led government in Tripura for its failure to implement the Forest Rights Act, further emphasizing the party’s commitment to tribal welfare.
As the election season approaches, the Tripura Congress is working diligently to strengthen its position and advocate for the rights of tribal communities in the state.
